Fourier-based imaging applied to synthetic aperture sonar

Synthetic aperture imaging can be achieved either in the time domain or in the frequency domain. These two approaches are compared in terms of spatial resolution, mathematical formalism and implementation. The application of Fourier-based imaging to synthetic aperture sonar is suggested. The whole processing is then performed in the frequency domain. The authors show that target detection is improved with that approach.
