An investigation of the relationship between corporate social responsibility and organizational culture

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) appears to have become more important and perceived as being relevant to any corporation. Meanwhile organizational culture is undoubtedly critical and fundamental to the sustainable operation of corporations. This paper aims to investigate the relationship between organizational culture and CSR. Using a sample of 95 firms from China and employing two different methods, namely Pearson correlation analysis and multiple regressions, there appears to be evidence that the casual relationships exist between organizational culture and CSR. In addition, some types of organizational culture are more important for different dimensions of CSR. The research has implications in enhancing the understanding of CSR implementation through organizational culture cultivation particularly in a developing country, although it is inevitably limited by the size of the sample. This is also the first paper that has examined the relationship between organizational culture and CSR of China's firms.
