On the Role of Government in Developing Sports Industry

Sports industry has become the new source of national economic growth and it becomes increasingly important in such aspects as enlarging domestic demands, offering employment positions, etc. At this critical point, the government should be clear about its own responsibility in developing sports industry. At present, our country is in a period in which the planned economy is replaced by the market economy. In this situation, aiming at the market benefit and economic benefit, sports industry development will certainly meet problems. The government is responsible to find out some countermeasures from the balance point between developing sports industry and satisfying popular needs, and make sports industry have a healthy and sustainable development. Here, a study is made on the role of the government in developing sports industry, and some countermeasures and suggestions are put forward.
