Integration of planar monopole antenna for ultrawide-band radios

The integration of the planar monopole antenna into a ceramic ball grid array package was investigated. The integration was analyzed with an emphasis on the connection of the miniaturized antenna to the UWB radio die. Some useful techniques for suppression of unwanted resonances and enhancement of impedance bandwidth were described and proved by simulation for the integration. The good integrated performance was realized.
