Optimization and filtering of paraxial seismic imaging operators

Scilab was extremely useful for the work presented in the paper. Scilab's developmental environment: an interactive interpreter, transparently typed data, integrated graphics, semi symbolic computing, and a very large number of built in functions greatly accelerated the correct formulation and numerical solution to several important problems in seismic imaging. In particular, the Scilab functions most useful to this work came from the numerical integration and optimization packages. Furthermore, the ability to dynamically link and transparently interface FORTRAN subroutines for use in Scilab was of great use. Finally, the Scilab signal processing toolbox provided the functions required for the filtering of numerical artifacts.
