Innovatve tecnique for indoor large radar arrays testings

The development of alternative techniques for large antenna testing and measurements is a topic of increasing interest in antenna and radar community. The main idea is to focus an plane wave across the antenna under test (AUT) aperture by using arrays for generating an incoming signal from the target, located in the far zone with respect to the radar array. Different solution strategies have been proposed in the literature. The solution methods can be subdivided in two main class. The first one contains all those solution methods which adopt global optimization algorithms to determine the optimal array element locations and weighting coefficients such that the synthesized architecture is able to radiate plane waves in near zone.
