Circularly polarized textile antenna for personal satellite communication

This paper describes how the performance of wearable textile antenna is affected by antenna bending. Here, we will focus on the resonance frequency fluctuation and input-match bandwidth variation due to the antenna bending as well as the changes in radiation pattern and antenna efficiency. This study is carried out for a circularly polarized textile patch antenna operating at Iridium satellite system. The results show that high efficiency and robustness against bending effects are maintained. A 5% return loss bandwidth is measured.
