High-power splice-free ytterbium fiber laser based on femtosecond-written fiber Bragg gratings

We report on the operation of a splice-free ytterbium fiber laser emitting 65 W at 1072 nm based on a pair of FBGs written directly in the active fiber using 400 nm femtosecond pulses and a phase-mask.
