Vis-IR optical switching/ modulation based on the electrically- activated phase transition of VO2 thin films

We report on fabrication and preliminary characterization of novel optical switches based on phase transition VO
2
thin films. The electrically-induced VO
2
phase transition leads to radical changes in material's optical properties, which may be further implemented in fast modulators for short-pulsed lasers applications.
