Sustainable construction and approaches for greener homes

Building contributes almost 40 percent of CO
2
emissions and is a major contributor to the Green House Gas Emissions (GHG). Climate change and its impacts need considerable attention from the building engineers/researchers so that building is designed taking into account environmental, socio-economic and cultural issues. The sustainable construction looks into the design and management of buildings, materials and building performance, energy and resource consumption through efficient energy use and environment friendly materials. The study is an attempt to address the issues of sustainable construction and what approaches needs to be implemented for a greener home for the developing countries based on existing local condition.
