Overview of optical access technologies

This paper provides an overview of optical access technologies, starting with a brief look at communications domains where fibre has already achieved dominance, followed by a statement of access network requirements. The paper then overviews optical technologies that are important to the access network, using a Broadband Passive Optical Network architecture as an example.
