GCPWG technique for measurement of dielectric properties of magneto-polymer composite at microwave frequencies

In the present investigation, the dielectric property of a new composite material is studied using the grounded coplanar waveguide (GCPWG) technique over a broad frequency range at X-band microwave frequencies for its application as a substrate material in microwave passive devices. The substrate material is fabricated by reinforcing NiFe
₂
O
₄
particles in different volume fractions into low density polyethylene (LDPE) matrix. Microstructural studies are performed with scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) to study the size and distribution of the inclusions in the matrix. The real part of complex permittivity of the NiFe
₂
O
₄
-LDPE composite material with 2% and 4% volume fractions over a frequency range in X-band is found to be within 1.594 to 2.15 and loss tangent to be order of 10
