Modeling of a general crown shape and the effects on air bearing steady-state performance

A new model with asymmetric crown capability has been developed. This new model characterizes air bearing surfaces more precisely, so that air bearing performance can be simulated more accurately. The general crown shape is interpolated by a lagrangian quadratic function using 9 nodes. This algorithm can be easily implemented into an existing air bearing simulation code. Results have shown very significant effects on air bearing steady-state flying height.
