Cipher and media possibility of a ubiquitous processor

Power conscious strong security and multimedia reality are demanded for the construction of emerging ubiquitous environment. Since multimedia computing requires high performance, high precision, and real time responsibility, the hardware approach or VLSI implementation of sophisticated strategies is one of the most promising solutions to satisfy those features. In developing cutting edge VLSI processors, parallelism is actually a recent years' trend. HCgorilla is a ubiquitous processor that does not make much of high clock speed, but seeks high performance by applying the parallelism of multicore and multiple pipeline. Each of two symmetric cores is composed of cipher pipes for cipher streaming and Java compatible media pipes. Since the cipher pipe has so far embodied only one hardware random number generator (RNG), it is not always sufficient for security. Thus, this article exploits the possibility of HCgorilla on practical ubiquitous computing by embodying two RNGs per cipher pipe. This is used for the implementation of a double cipher scheme. The practical security of the cipher pipe is evaluated. Possibility for media processing is also studied by evaluating the running time and throughput of HCgorilla's media pipe.
