Extended Theory for Analysis of PLL Phase and Frequency Tracking Error in GNSS Receiver

Accurately tracking phase and frequency of the signal (including both carrier and pseudo code) is the prerequisite for GNSS receiver. This paper gives an extended analytic expression for PLL phase and frequency tracking performance with consideration of finite frontend. The different effects of finite frontend on tracking performance between PLL and DLL are compared. Contrasted with the former work, the effect of bandlimited on the signal is analyzed, and the analytic expressions for the frequency tracking error are presented.
