Adsorption orientation of methylene blue (MB+) on the silver colloid: SERS and DFT studies

By combining SERS experiments with DFT calculations, the orientation of methylene blue (MB
⁺
) absorbed on the silver colloid at different concentrations are discussed. The results indicate MB
⁺
adopts a parallel fashion at low concentration while a perpendicular one at high concentration.
