Scattering from inhomogeneous media with rough interface illuminated by a pencil-beam: a hybrid perturbative-finite elements approach

Electromagnetic scattering from an inhomogeneous medium with rough interface is analyzed. The procedure proposed combines the finite element method (FEM), to model the electromagnetic field in the inhomogeneous region, with a perturbative technique to account for the contributions due. To the rough interface. Using the perturbative approach allows reducing the original problem to two simpler configurations which can be efficiently analyzed via the FEM.
