Ground currents tests in metal planes

Metal planes, including larger copper strip areas of printed boards, are considered to be very effective grounds. These grounds are often treated as almost equipotential, and the ground currents are assumed to be concentrated on narrow paths connecting input and output terminals of the grounding plane of the sheet of metal. The paper addresses the ground plane current distributions and shows the way the current density distribution could be tested in larger metal planes. A practical demonstration is included.
