Intelligent power management of Lithium-ferro-phosphate cells on the homecare robot

Homecare robots are getting more reliable and less expensive than traditional nanny. However, the cruising period is conspicuously restrained by the heavy weight and the discharge instability of the existed battery structure. Generally speaking, the state of discharge (SOD) of Lithium cells can be satisfied by the series-connected cells with gas-gauge if the discharge current is small enough. The reliable cycle-lifespan would be shortened and significant KPI are no longer assured when the cell-unbalanced phenomenon occurs under the heavy-duty DC discharge conditions. This paper is aimed to develop a power predictable algorithm with inexpensive, lighter-weight, durable, reliable, and intelligent cell-balance circuit (ICBC) to protect the battery management system (BMS). Finally, computer simulations and the discharge experiment with data acquisition are carefully examined and successfully demonstrated the advantages of the proposed algorithm
