Technical and economic arguments for using fuel cells in RET power station's self services feeding

Paper makes a brief analysis of the current solutions for supplying electricity to self services of electrical stations and proposes new, modern solutions, based on renewable energies. Analyzed solutions propose the use of integrated systems for the supply of energy, in which the heart is combustion pile, energy storage being made in hydrogen form. To make it possible the feeding both of DC and AC self services is necessary to use an electronic AC-DC inverter. Current technical and economic arguments presented in the paper shows that the use of fuel cells to feed self services in RET stations, may be, in the future, a feasible solution. In a first stage, primary cells can be used without the generation of fuel, using hydrogen and oxygen bottles purchased from suppliers. In a later stage, the generation of needed hydrogen can be achieved by using solar or wind energy, according to local conditions. As a final conclusion, it is needed to achieve a pilot plant with which to validate the obtained theoretical results and to gain experience of exploitation.
