Design and analysis on the Power Electronic Load

In this paper, the Power Electronic Load (PEL) is designed for power source tests. It consists of two power stages: input imitation converter and output grid-connection converter. The input imitation converter is used to test the tested AC power sources performance by imitating various linear loads and nonlinear load; the Grid-Connected Converter (GCC) keep the energy feed back to the grid and hold the power balance of the equipment. The connection scheme of the PEL and the control scheme of the PEL which bases on mathematical model to test the DC power sources and various three-phase AC power sources are presented. The effect of the whole system performance by parameter is analyzed in quality and in quantity based on control theory which includes Jury test, Dynamic Factor Analysis and Frequency Analysis. A 10KVA prototype is established to test AC power sources. The simulation and experimental results are given to verify the proposed analysis and control schemes.
