insulating nanodot columns were epitaxially grown by pulsed laser deposition on short pieces of ion-beam-assisted deposition (IBAD) MgO substrate. Variations in superconducting and microstructural properties were observed for samples grown at different substrate temperatures between 790 and 810

C. At substrate temperatures between 790 and 800

C, samples were measured to have large self-field
