PLRC-FDTD analysis of a magnetized plasma antenna

This paper uses the FDTD method to investigate the magnetized plasma antenna erected on the metal ground. The influence of the external magnetic field B

on the radiation properties of the antenna is presented. Numerical results demonstrate that the near-field distribution is strengthened and the far-field radiation shifts more to the upper half-space when the external magnetic field B

builds up ω

. The phenomenon is more obvious if the antenna length L is smaller than ½ λ, where λ is the operation wavelength. The results suggest that it is feasible to dynamically reconfigurate the radiation properties of magnetized plasma antennas for radio frequency communication.
