The tool's underlying paradigm, the definitional method, is a structured knowledge representation formalism. Users introduce knowledge by engaging in a socratic dialog with the system, where knowledge is described by providing definitions for terms. The inferencing strategy is straightforward and does not require a user to be concerned with resolution strategies when developing an expert system application.
