A Low Installed Cost Microprocessor based Power Plant Controller

This paper describes the application of a low installed cost microprocessor based controller for the monitoring and control of communication type dc power plants. The maintenance and operating benefits for the power plant is reviewed and a detailed description of the controller's architecture, interface requirements and functional capabilities is presented. The controller's features include all functions normally associated with meter and alarm panels as well as binary event logging channels, software programmable voltage alarms and remote access of stored data via a built in modem.
