The Effect of Field Strength and Frequency on the Electro-Optic Response of Nematic Liquid Crystals for Photonic Applications

In this paper, we present our study on the effect of the applied field frequency and strength on the switching response of Nematic liquid crystal (NLC). LC cells with different cell gap spacing were studied. We experimentally showed that the rise time of nematic LC can be remarkably improved by tuning the applied driving voltage and its frequency together, and as well as by reducing the LC film thickness.
