Modelling and analysis of a high speed token ring backbone network for a realistic scenario

A multiple-token-ring-backbone is modeled and evaluated for mixed traffic imposed by different applications. The suitability of this medium-access protocol is studied on the basis of both queue length and packet delay. The token access method is analyzed with respect to buffer dimensioning and packet delay. A realistic scenario with file transfer and interactive traffic reaching a high-speed backbone via local area networks is treated.<
