A unified field permanent magnet dual mechanical port machine with spoke type PM arrangement

A dual mechanical port (DMP) machine is a new kind of machine with two rotors. Those in literature [1][2] can be classified into independent field type, as the fact that there is no effective electromagnetic coupling between different parts in the machine. A new type of DMP machine is presented in this paper, which features as a unified field in the machine. This kind of machine can utilize d-axis current more effectively, which leads to higher overall efficacy as well as torque density. A unique equivalent circuit model of this machine is derived with the assistance of FEA evaluation. The torque strengthen effect is proved by the FEA evaluation.
