Gyrotron mode competition calculations: Investigations on the choice of numerical parameters

The proper choice of numerical parameters in mode competition calculations for gyrotron cavities, like time step size, azimuthal phase discretisation and selection of included modes, is discussed. As a first step, simple rules are derived and justified.
