Development of analytical flat phantom model for EM radiation to evaluate specific absorption rate (SAR) in human body

This paper presents a full three-dimensional analytical flat phantom model in rectangular coordinates for EM radiation to evaluate the Specific Absorption rate (SAR) in human body. The finite difference time domain (FDTD) is used in calculating the interaction of EM fields with complex, lossy dielectric bodies. At time t=0, a continuous sinusoid plane-wave source of frequency f is assumed to turn on. After the incident plane wave has irradiated the body for a time sufficiently long to give convergence (typically two to three time periods of oscillation), the local specific absorption rate (SAR) at each cell in the body is calculated using the equation: SAR = σ|E|
