Analysis of wide slot antenna electromagnetically coupled to a circular microstrip patch for radar applications by using TLM method

A wide rectangular slot antenna electromagnetically fed by a microstrip circular patch for Achieving wide bandwidth to operate at 3 GHz is proposed. Transmission Line Matrix method, TLM-SCN, is used to obtain numerical results on the return loss, input impedance and radiation pattern of such antenna structure. Effects of various diameters of the circular feeding patch and patch position relative to the center of the slot are considered. For VSWR of 1:2 some 52% bandwidth at 3Ghz is easily achievable.
