Optical properties of carbon materials in THz region

Terahertz (THz) lights ranging between far infrared and microwaves (0.1~10 THz) is of great importance due to the rich chemical and physical processes in this region. It has attracted increasing research attention for its unique advantages, such as non-destructive, non-contact, high signal to noise ratio than IR at frequencies lower than 3 THz, etc. Carbon materials filled polymer resin possesses both good electrical conductivity and the properties of base polymers. In this work, THz time domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) was used to explore the optical and electrical properties of the composites filled with multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWNT), C
₆₀
, and CB, respectively. The experimental results were analyzed using Debye and Cole-Cole models of dipole relaxation.
