Twisted wire actuated motion stage

This paper presents a creative design for a motion stage. The system is consist of a stepping motor, a stage, a potentiometer, two wires, and spring. The design is based on changeing the length of a wire while the wire is being twised. According to the experimental results, it is disclosed that the positioning accuracy of the stage will reach to ± 0.02 mm at each step. The advantages of the design are simple structure, easy control, and cost down.
