A Competition Model Based on Natural Tree Growth

A natural tree has the ability of self-organization, self-adaptation and self-regulating, and its growth is the process of optimization. Firstly, According to the mechanism, a competition model is established in this paper. In the model, sunlight adaptability, nutrition factor and shade factor are defined. And, the equation of branch's competitive phototropic growth and the condition of branch's fading are described. And then, the flow chart of the model is drawn. Meanwhile, a three-dimensional simulating tree is brought. Finally, it is validated by the complex functional curve fitting, and is compared with the standard genetic algorithm (GA) and the traditional least square method (TLS). The experiments indicate that the model requires less memory and less computational time, but has higher precision. The model may provide a novel solution to the design and calculation of optimization.
