Employment of parasite element for extending the bandwidth of a linear horizontal spiral monopole

A proposal for extending the bandwidth of a Linear Horizontal Spiral Monopole is presented in this work. The proposal consists in the addition of an optimized rectangular loop over the antenna. It is used as a parasite element. A bandwidth of 60.87% was obtained. The analysis of the problem was numerically performed by the Finite-Difference Time-Domain method truncated by the Uniaxial Perfectly Matched Layers formulation.
