Versatile Automotive Sensor Interface ASIC

We present a fully integrated CMOS sensor interface. The architecture is highly programmable, allowing a wide range of potential automotive and industrial applications. The interface circuit has been fabricated in a high-voltage CMOS process including on-chip voltage regulation to minimize the number of external components required and thus to reduce cost. The silicon area of the interface is 6.9 mm
²
(including pads). As an application example, the circuit has been employed for contact- less angle measurement, leading to maximum errors after calibration of plusmn0.5deg in an angular range exceeding 100deg.
