Development of Micro-Fluidic Nitrate-Selective Sensor Based on Polypyrrole Nanowires

Detection and estimation of nitrate levels is important to maintain ecosystem dynamics, marine cycle balance, prevent impact on human health. In this work, a micro-fluidic nitrate-selective electrochemical sensor using doped polypyrrole nanowires is developed. The electrochemical sensor showed excellent current response for two set of calibration solutions (DI water and IAPSO standard seawater) with sensitivity of 1.35 nA/μM and 1.17 μA/mM.respectively. Further, the interfering ions (chloride, sulfate and phosphate) up to 0.2 mM showed minimal effect on the current response.
