Simulation of PMD compensation using Optical ARMA Filters for WDM Systems

We demonstrate the use of an auto regressive moving average (ARMA) optical lattice alter in compensating polarization mode dispersion (PMD) by minimizing the differential group delay (DGD) within a given frequency range. A numerical simulation was performed for a 4

order ARMA filter to compare the DGD values before and after filtering. Also, a quasi-analytical simulation was performed to estimate the signal to noise (SNR) reduction after filtering.
