Applications of GIS

This paper has described some examples for the application of GIS. The reasons for GIS are as various as the examples. One main common requirement is limited space in a dense populated or industrial used surrounding. GIS is used as indoor and outdoor equipment, where in Europe and Asia the prior use is indoor and in Japan and America the prior use is outdoor. More often reasons of esthetics are leading to GIS use and the requirement Substation follows the architecture. This is new in the world of high voltage substation that not the electrical equipment has the lead in practical solution but the architecture is the one taking the lead.
