A Novel C-Band 580W SSPA for Microwave Satellite Communications Earth Station

A compact novel C-band 580W SSPA for microwave satellite communications carth station has been made practicable for commercial use by using a newly developed compact rectangular coaxial line combiner, suitable cooling system and high power 35W GaAs FETs. This SSPA has excellent performances which are a match for 1.2kW or greater TWTA and also has high reliability(long life-time). So it is not necessary to make periodical maintenance like a TWTA. In addition, an overall cost of SSPA, which includes initial cost and replacement cost, is smaller than TWTA's one. Furthermore, the SSPA also has high power added efficiency. It is useful for microwave satellite communications earth station in place of conventional TWTAs.
