The High Data Rate Terminal

The HDRT project was a part of the ESA Preparatory Support Technology Programme and was concerned with the design, build and test of a simulator of a communication link between a COLUMBUS element and a ground terminal via TDRSS. The project was completed in February 1991 with the delivery to ESA of the simulator. The primary function of the HDRT is to carry out BER measurements and to give hands on experience of high data rate communication hardware.
