Analysis of Co-evaporated and In-situ Compacted Ag-Ni Nanocrystalline Alloys

The inert-gas condensation technique was used to produce nanocrystalline Ag-Ni alloys investigated in this study. Microstructural properties such as grain boundaries and grain size distribution of these alloys were studied by means of field ion microscopy (FIM) and tomographic atom probe (TAP). The magnetic properties of these compounds are mainly controlled by the grain size and their Ni volume fraction. Annealing of such samples result in a significant change of the microstructure
