Tunable Manifold Multiplexers - A New Possibility For Satellite Redundancy Philosophy

A theoretical study concerning a 5-channel TUnable manifold MUltipleXer (TUMUX) design has been performed using an appropriate modelling method. The findings yielded a possible TUMUX configuration. A well-suited filter type has been realized for such an application providing low loss, small size and good properties relative to tuning. The favourable use of TUMUXs is demonstrated by a proposed common spare payload for various national European Direct Broadcasting Satellites.
