Transmission Measurements at Micro-Wavelengths with Error Correction by Device Under Test Modification

An existing Ka-band (26.5-40 GHz) impedance measurement setup, using an HP 8410 B Network-Analyzer via down-conversion as phase-gain indicator and a simple desk-top computer for automation and calculation, has been extended to a complete S-parameter test-setup (fig. 1). A method is described to eliminate setup error parameters without the need of a dual measurement system or expensive high-precision waveguide equipment.
