Conductimetric intraventricular volume: analysis of the current distribution

A source of error using a conductance catheter is the current distribution in the structures that surround the ventricle. The authors have developed an electrical model to interpret these changes when intraventricular volume is intended to be measured. To evaluate the model, experiments were made in 5 dogs injecting solutions in the circulation with different saline concentrations and at different temperatures. The results indicate that the total conductance (Gt) rises when the concentration and the temperature are increased and the authors' electrical model can describe this behavior and can also evaluate the current distribution in the whole system.<
