Design of Transmission Line Filters

The features of a general-purpose CAD program for microwave filter design will be discussed. Under development for the past four years, this program is currently at a stage where most of the common types of microwavesfilters, e.g., can be designed with relative ease. The design process from synthesis based on an initial set of specifications through analysis and finally to the physical realization, will be illustrated by an example design of a transmission line diplexer. A second example will be given of a lumped element, elliptic function, lowpass filter. Finally, the features currently in development or planned for the future will be summarized.
