Work In Progress: An Examination of the Predictors of Engagement in Academic Impropriety in Higher Education in the United Kingdom in Nationals of Two Countries

The present study forms part of a large-scale survey aiming to address the prevalence of different forms of academic practice in university students (UK & International), differences between cohorts (quantitative and qualitative), and the attitudes that may underpin such practices. The present article addresses student's views regarding the acceptability of a range of academic practices and self-reported experience of such practices. This study employs two samples of students drawn from within Engineering degree programs in the United Kingdom. In one, all of the respondents are from Malaysia; the other is a standard sample of UK students. It should be noted that the UK is a multicultural country. As all students are undertaking tuition at the same institution, one source of variance - the culture of the country and establishment of training - is removed.
