Artificial intelligence/expert systems: A teaching tool

It is suggested that mature technologies such as Internet and electronic mail make it possible for classroom teachers to link-up with a very specific national ES (expert system) and bring the "cutting-edge" technology directly into the educational environment at little cost. Perhaps profit-oriented AI/ES topic-specific "Internet" type clearing houses will develop. It is argued that the payoffs derived from moving ES into the classroom would be spectacular. The immediate access to such a knowledge base would stimulate tremendous advancements in the classroom, which in turn would contribute back to the expanding ES system.<
