Efficient use of .5 /spl mu/m technology with ORCA

The original ORCA architecture achieved new highs in gate density for FPGAs by use of a nibble oriented structure for routing, combinatorial logic and sequential logic. The ORCA 2Cxx architecture builds on this base to make optimum use of the larger array sizes possible in 0.5 /spl mu/m silicon technology. Critical to the optimum use of 0.5 /spl mu/m technology is the addition of the right amount of new routing resources to insure that routability is maintained throughout the range of array sizes offered. The result is the densest and fastest FPGA available today. To allow users to program the large arrays available in 0.5 /spl mu/m technology, ORCA can now be programmed through a choice of several third party front end tools and offers a proprietary data path synthesizer.<
