Hardware design-for-test process improvements and resulting testability tool requirements

Testability engineering has relevance in all program phases, at all levels of a weapon system, and for all levels of diagnostics and maintenance. Engineering tool development for testability, however, lags far behind tools for operational hardware and software development. This paper addresses the fundamental elements of the testability process in the hardware design phase and recommends attributes of tools needed to support a truly concurrent engineering environment.<
